This is the worst update they made for the File Explorer. The latest Update 23H2 killed the drag and drop in File Explorer's Address Bar.I'm one of those people who drags and drop files through the address bar as part of my work. That feature is very useful and necessary for my work but they blew it.Now it is very hassle and difficult to use unlike before. It also feels like an adress bar for edge or chrome. You cannot even open the option view for changing the folder light/dark&n

    :)

  2. Pdf File View in Windows / File Explorer NOT

Hi, After cleaning out the thumbnail cache, I went to restore and found an old enough restore point. The MS powers that be were on my side today as Restore actually worked this time (1st time on this machine). Lo and behold I can now view pdf thumbnails in file explorer. Thank you for all your suggestions. I did DL the tutorial list from the forum to help me in the future. Now to work on the thumbnail generation of the vp3 files. I’ll tackle that one Monday. unable to restore favorites in Internet Explorer 11

    Hello,

I can understand the inconvenience you have experienced.

I would suggest you to try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

How to restore the favorite’s folder in Internet Explorer.

    • To open the Registry Editor, click Start.
    • Type regedit into the Start Search field.
    • Press Enter.
    • Find Favorites under the following Registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Shell folders
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell folders

    HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Shell folders

    HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell folders

    • Right click it and select Modify. The Edit String dialog will open.
    • Verify that the Value Data field contains the correct location of your Favorites folder. If it does not, enter the right location to restore your missing Favorites folder to Internet Explorer.
    C:\Users\NetID\Favorites

    • Close the registry editor.
    • Open Internet Explorer to confirm that your favorites are there.
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you

File Explorer W11; Restore Pictures Folder to Quick Access

To restore the Pictures folder to Quick Access in Windows 11 File Explorer, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar or by pressing Windows + E on your keyboard.
    2. In the left pane of File Explorer, right-click on Quick Access and select Options.
    3. In the Folder Options window, select the General tab.
    4. Under Privacy, make sure that "Show recently used files in Quick access" and "Show frequently used folders in Quick access" are both checked.
    5. Click on the Clear button next to "Clear File Explorer history" to remove any history that might be preventing the Pictures folder from appearing in Quick Access.
    6. Click on the Restore Defaults button to restore the default settings for Quick Access.
    7. Click on Apply and then on OK to save the changes.
    8. If the Pictures folder still does not appear in Quick Access, you can manually add it by navigating to the folder in File Explorer, right-clicking on it, and selecting Pin to Quick Access.
If these steps do not work, you can try creating a new user account and see if the Pictures folder appears in Quick Access for the new user. If it does, you can copy the contents of your old user account's Pictures folder to the new user account's Pictures folder and continue using the new account.

Let me know if it helps.
