Windows 10: I need help ive been having gaming issues and ive tried many things. Dave i hope you see this.

At first i believed it was my gpu possibly but i think its something to do with directx12. my games will run for 20-40 mi

GTA IV fail to launch

Last spring Rockstar was letting people upgrade to GTA IV the Complete Edition for free. All you needed was the Product Key from either your copy of GTA IV or EFLC. I did that back then. I don't know if they are still doing that.

However, my old copies of GTA IV and EFLC still work. These games don't interfere with GTA IV the Complete Edition because they save games in different locations.

I did this to install GTA IV:
1. Install game from DVDs and stop at Release Date Check
2. Change computer date year to 2013
3. Continue with Release Date Check
4. When finished return date to current date
5. Run GTA IV Patch 8
6. Copy XLiveLess to Install directory

At this point GTA IV will run. It still requires Disk 1 to be in the DVD drive. I have a fix for that.

I just took screenshots of GTA IV, GTA IV EFLC, and GTA IV TCE to show that I have them all working.

 

Gta 4 iv crashes on start

I built my new computer three years ago with Windows 10. I could not get GTA IV or GTA EFLC to work with it. A month ago I decided to try again. I finally got both working with Windows 10.

1. Release Date Check.
Problem: would always fail
Solution: Stop when asked to do that, change the year on the PC to 2013, continue with the installation, when finished return the year to the current year

2. Run the official GTA IV Patch 8

3. Games for Windows Live
Problem: Game could not connect to it to login.
Solution: Games for Windows Live has been shut down. Get XLiveLess to make up for that.

GTA IV should work now. I detest having to insert the disc every time I run the game. To solve that I use the same little fix you do.

I also have GTA EFLC. I used similar steps to get it to work in Windows 10.

As I can understand you are unable to log into the account and also have an issue with the game GTA IV.

• How are you trying to log into the account, by using a browser or an app or on Windows 10 log in screen?
• Do you get the above error when you are trying to download or play
  GTA IV game as the you have mentioned about games as well?

Try to log in using a browser. Go to Account.live.com and try logging in.

If you are able to log in then it is not a password issue.
