Windows 10: I need help with monitor/pc issues

I recently got a PC and bought a 240hz monitor, everything was fine till I noticed that whenever I tried to play a game I had to downloaded for example fortnite my screen would go black then flicker every 2 minutes then eventually just stay black until I closed off fortnite. But if I stop using the monitor and switch to a 60hz TV or a 75hz monitor it works fine? Ive tried lowering my Hz and Resolution on the pc and still have the same issue. Any help with why I have this problem will be greatly appreciated

• Does the external monitor work with your laptop before?
• Have you tried to connect the external monitor to your desktop?
• When did the issue start?
• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to the issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Issues while installing a second monitor in Windows 10

Really? I get a canned answer and nothing else? I posted that I had tried everything that I could find posted online. I did read the post that Andre suggested multiple times prior to posting this request for help. None of it helped.

My computer does not recognize that there is a second monitor is plugged in. The small step of changing the settings so I can put stuff on the second monitor ISN'T the issue. I am not that dumb. in the device manager there is only the single monitor listed
at one point there was a unknown device listed but my computer did not know if it was a monitor or a printer.

There has to be someone out there that knows how to fix this

Please Help

 

Dual monitor issue - 2nd monitor "out of range"

The error message Out of Range usually occurs when the video card feeds the monitor, a signal stream in excess from what the monitor can handle.



I suggest you to try the steps listed below and see if it works for you:

• Boot the computer in
  Safe Mode, and right click on the Desktop.
  
• Select Display Properties and choose a lower resolution.
  
• Reboot the machine and check if it works.
  
• If the issue persists, boot the computer again in
  Safe Mode, and go to Display Properties.
  
• Click on Advanced Display Settings, and choose
  Display Adapter properties.
  
• Under Monitor tab, choose
  60 Hz as the Screen Refresh rate.
  
• Apply the changes, boot the PC in normal mode to see if it works.
