Windows 10: I need help with some programs.

This is probably a really stupid question, but keep in mind, I am not a computer person at all and I don't really understand anything that is happening so I will try to explain it to the best of my abilities. If you need any clarification please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to elaborate.

When I open a .jar executable (?) the program that is inside of it opens and runs fine. But I am trying to figure this out - am I able to extract that program from the .jar file and keep it on the task bar/desktop so I don't have to open the .jar file every time I want to access this program?

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

Can you tell us what you're doing? Step by step? What program are you using? Like I say, if you're using VLC, any codecs you install won't help you at all since VLC doesn't actually look outside of its own libraries.

Just list the steps that you're taking.
