  2. Taskbar location

    Hi Todd,

Sudden changes in the location of the taskbar can occur due to misconfiguration in Windows settings. But you don't have to worry, you can modify the location where the taskbar will be displayed. Follow these steps to change the location of your taskbar:

    • Right click on your taskbar.
    • Choose Taskbar settings.
    • Look for Taskbar location on screen. The drop-down button under it will let you choose your preferred location for the taskbar.

  3. After reboot on a multiple display system, the taskbar location changes from "right" to "custom" and taskbar location is different on the displays

    Hello,

This is a Windows 10 x64 Pro version WinVer 1903 and was a 100% clean installation (e.g. no partitions on boot drive at time of installation).

I have a three to four monitor system. Typically it is 3 monitors with the 4th monitor going to a different system, but sometimes I use all 4 monitors.

Before rebooting, I set the taskbar location to "right." I also notice there is no "custom" option. The options are top, bottom, right, and left. I verify all taskbars on all monitors is on the right side.

After I reboot Windows, the taskbar for display 1 (also the primary) is still on the right. The taskbars on the other monitors, though, are on the bottom (e.g. default location). When I go to look at the setting for the taskbar location, I see a new option
-- CUSTOM in the list. The list has 5 options, not 4 as there was before the reboot.

NOTE: If I change the location to right and then check the location list, the CUSTOM option no longer is there.

How do I keep the taskbar location on the right across a reboot.

    Thank you.

  4. I need the Location path to my Windows settings for a Custom taskbar

After reboot on a multiple display system, the taskbar location changes from "right" to "custom" and taskbar location is different on the displays

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you are unable to set the taskbar location on your PC. We appreciate your effort in providing us the detailed information about the issue.

We researched and reproduced the issue on our lab machine. As we can see that you have two queries, let me address the first issue that is location changes from "right" to "custom".

This is by design, whenever you have multiple monitor connected to the PC and you have set the taskbar location to default (i.e. bottom) you will see 5 option and the 5th option is
Custom. Now if you change the taskbar to right of the screen for all the display. The Windows settings will show you 4 option because you have already customized to Right.

Now, let us move to the second issue and that is the taskbar location changes on the secondary displays to default (i.e. bottom) after the restart. To prevent this problem we would suggest you to perform the registry fix as mentioned
    in these steps.

    1. Press Windows + R key to launch the Run command.
    2. Type regedit and click on Ok.
    3. Navigate to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MMStuckRects3
    4. Now from right pane double click on binary value for all the display monitor listed one by one.
    5. Double click on the 03 value as shown in the screenshot and change it to
02 for setting the taskbar location to the right. Just for your information
00 is for left, 01 is for top and 03 is default i.e. bottom.
    6. Close the registry, restart the PC and check.

Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly.
Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

    Follow the steps to take
    backup of registry
    .
