Windows 10: I need to extract files with 7Zip but i cant

I download something and it needs to be extracted with 7 Zip. Ive extraced with 7Zip before It download anything now, it has the internet explorer icon on it. when i right click and hit "exract here" it does nothing and when i just try to double click it nothing happens becouse it is set to "open with internet explorer." i have no idea what it was supposed to originally open with. how do i set it back to normal so i can extract my downloaded files properly

7Zip Files

Hi Lily,

If you have installed 7Zip, right click that 7z file and choose 7Zip - Extract Here

Does that extract the contained files for you?

If not, please provide a link to where you are downloading these file from and I will check out the 7z files for you . .

I apologize if I sound dumb but, how do I do that? I extract the 7Zip files with 7Zip and yet I get the thing I downloaded in the first place and not its contents.

Extracting Zip Files

Are the step-by-step processes identical? That is, the folder extracted from and the folder extracted to belong to the same hierarchical file system structure. If they are, that suggests mildly the Cumulative Update left an electron or two out of place.
