Windows 10: I need to login to a deceased relative's computer.

Alright Windows Community, I need some help with this one because it's outside of my gear house.My girlfriend's father passed away a few months ago rest in peace sir, and she just now finally got his computer after months of waiting. We're trying to login so we can move any important files over to an external drive for record keeping purposes and save anything. We don't want to just wipe it. UNFORTUNATELY, we can't get into the computer. The password he put in is no longer working and we can't figure out what to do outside of asking here. * Original title: Trying to recover the past * Change

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

Deceased relatives account password

You can't trust the security of any used computer (not even a relative's) unless & until you format the HDD & then do a clean install of Windows. Once you do that, your grandfather's User Account will no longer be present.

 

Password for my deceased brother's computer.

How do I get a sign on password for my deceased brother's computer. I am the administrator of his estate.
