  1. I need to map Alt +(Shift) + Y to print these symbols ">" and "<"

I have an ANSI keyboard however I type in German layout which is ISO-DE. No issues. I'm missing the shortcut for > and < which is usually between Shift and Z on a US style keyboard. That key is simply non-existent.

    My solution is to bind

    "<" to Alt + Y and

    ">" to Alt + Shift + Y

however I do not know how to do that.

I downloaded Sharpkeys which allows me to remap keys however it does not let me create combinations. I take it Autohotkey would do the trick but I'd prefer not to have scripts running in the background.

    Help is appreciated.

I need to map Alt +(Shift) + Y to print these symbols ">" and "<"

has "★" symbol (formerly ALT code: alt + 9733) been removed character map / list permanently?

    Hello John,

The ALT + 9733 results to ♣ symbol. There are star-shaped symbols in other fonts, such as wingdings, wingdings 2 but fonts are not specified in the alt (ascii/unicode)code itself. If you search the web using Bing or other search engines. You can find
a complete list ALT symbol codes.

If you're using an application like Microsoft Office, you can go to Insert > Symbols > Symbol > More Symbols.

Hope this information helps you. To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.
