    I need to prevent a driver from updating


    PC with Windows 11 Pro 64 Bit.LAN driver is realtek PCI Family ControllerThe default Windows driver defaults to a 10 MB connection speed.Chosing a Realtek Driver Select from drivers stored on your PC reveals several drivers all with the same name seems to fix the problem, but with the next reboot the system reverts to the Microsoft driver. How can I install a driver so that it survives reboots as well as Windows update events?

    How to remove driver and prevent Windows 10 from updating driver

    You can remove the old drivers with the inbox tool pnputil.exe

    • run pnputil -e > C:\drivers.txt

      I need to prevent a driver from updating [​IMG]
    • open the file drivers.txt and look which .inf file is associated with
      the driver you want to remove
    • run pnputil.exe -d oem<NUMBER>.inf

    This removes the driver correctly. If this is too complicated, you can use the tool DriverStore Explorer [RAPR]

    Click on enumerate, select the 215 driver and click on Delete Package.

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    I would suggest you to Rollback to the previous update using the Device Manager

    Follow the steps to update the Graphics Card drivers:

    • Press Windows key + R key. Type "devmgmt.msc" and click
      Enter.
    • Expand Display Adapter
    • Double-click on the Graphics card.
    • In Properties, go to Drivers Tab and click on
      Roll Back Driver.
    This driver update might show up again in the Windows Update. Therefore, you can prevent it from installing by following the steps mentioned in the below article:
