Windows 10: I need to update Windows 10 without restarting.

I should start this by saying I built this system and it's a custom loop. The gist is this. I need to update Windows 10 without restarting my computer. It's not possible for me to restart the computer and I don't exactly know why. I think it might be a problem with my motherboard but I am not exactly sure yet. Once I figure that out I will RMA if I need to. Anyway, I can power it on and off with no issues; I just can't restart it. Not with the button in the Windows start menu nor the reset button on my case. It fails to boot every time. But I'm really not out to solve that issue at this momen

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Anyway , You are luckier than me. My computer was locked directly after updated to Windows 10 . but the solution is easy.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
