Windows 10: I purchased what was advertised as 4x to 12x rewritable cds to write files using an old...

I am trying to write files to a 4x to 12x rewritable CD that says only 12x on it using a laptop running xp home edition. The cds are new and sold by Amazon and the laptop is a HP-Pavillion dv8110us notebook pc. I am getting an error when I click write. Thanks john

CD-ROM Drive Info.

On my computer: How can I find out the correct and or required burning speed (2X -4X or 4X - 12X) of my CD-RAM drive (CD-RW)?

I recently learned that the purchase of CD-RW blank disc should be within the CD-RAM's burn-speed required specifications. If this information is available on my PC, please tell me how; I am unable to locate such info.

Alternative suggestions will be highly appreciated.

• How old is the CDR exactly? When did you write it?
• Did you try it on a different system?

As the disc was written on a different OS platform as well as an older writing application, there is a possibility the CD might be obsolete or corrupted.
I suggest you to check the status of the issue on a different computer and see if the files appear. Further, try the below steps to check if the files are visible.

• Click search box, and then type cmd.
• Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
• If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
• In front of the CD/DVD drive letter, type DIR and check if you’re able to find the files.

DVD CD rewriter not reading disc's (Windows10)

I have tried all of the suggestions and the cd/dvd rewriter still will not read disc's, device manager says everything is working but when I insert disc it says it cant find it, really getting desperate now.
