I purchased Windows 10/11 Home license in 2017. I built a new PC and it will not let me Activate WindowsThe purchase order still shows in My Microsoft account.I wiped my old PC and un-linked it from My Microsoft account.I login to Windows using My Microsoft account. It will not let me activate because I do not have a product key.Trouble shooter jsut tells me to go to the store and buy a new license for $139.I try calling and Using Get help bu the automated system jsut tells me to use the Troubleshooter again.I even try replying to Microsoft Store from my original order confirmation email with

Maybe they didn't have it when you looked earlier, but the Microsoft Store now lists a downloadable Win 10 Pro for purchase:

This is for the USA. It may be available from your country. (Or not.)

 

Where to purchase a Windows 10 license for a custom built PC?


Okay so I'm really confused. On the entire Microsoft site and store there is no mention of any method to purchase a Windows 10 license. All they offer is a free upgrade. I can't do that since I built a custom PC with no prior OS. So I need to buy a license.
Where can I find a good, legit place to purchase a Windows 10 license (and maybe USB with the ISO on it)? I'd like to purchase a Windows 10 Pro x64 license, and if possible for 3 users.

So can anyone recommend a store? I'd prefer not to wait weeks for it to arrive. I've searched already but I couldn't find anything except webshops that say they'll deliver it in 10+ days, which is too long.

Window 11 licensing on different PC than the old Windows 10 PC

Thank you for the info. I found it that my Windows 10 Pro was using a digital license. I think this might've been an upgrade from Windows 7 but that was so long ago I don't remember for sure.

I followed the steps to remove my old PC from my devices under my Microsoft account.

I now have my new PC built and running. I installed Windows 11 Pro but it won't activate.

Should I not have removed the old device that was linked to my account? Would it help if I linked it again?

Or am I just going to have to purchase a new license?
