Discus and support I put a Dell optiplex 3420 hard drive in my HP PAVILION now getting no bootable device in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I have the operations disk for the optiplex3420 Dell hard drive I put it in and it went through all the way but afterwords it had me do the same thing...     I put a Dell optiplex 3420 hard drive in my HP PAVILION now getting no bootable device


    I have the operations disk for the optiplex3420 Dell hard drive I put it in and it went through all the way but afterwords it had me do the same thing as when I started the disk is there a way I can get my HARD DRIVE to boot up in my HP PAVILION also when I go into the BIOS I don't have much to choose from like on my other computers and I can't update my BIOS cuz I can't get into the computer to do it can anyone help me the sad thing is I also have a HP notebook 15 which I put it in and it loaded no problem is that because the notebook 15 came with Windows 10 and I am running into problems bec

    I can not format laptop HP Pavilion 15t-eg0000 from external bootable

    I have some issue on the windows of my new laptop. I downloaded WIN 10 iso file from Microsoft website then attached to the external USB via RUFUS app. The USB is bootable and recognized by the laptop but the local drive is not showing on the list of the drive. Is this a new security step on the BIOS? Please help me to sort out this issue.

    Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    Most likely the problem is Windows is installed in UEFI Mode on that drive, it will work on another device that has BIOS set to UEFI, not Legacy BIOS.

    Boot into BIOS and see if there is an option to switch to UEFI BIOS mode or to enable Secure Boot, then check if that drive will boot up.

    If not, while Windows is very adaptable to new hardware, there is no guarantee it can adapt if the hardware on the new device is very different.
