Windows 10: I put in a cd into my computer and it constantly opens the microsoft store

Hello, I was trying to play a cd in my computer and every time I try to play the cd Microsoft store opens with DVD players to use and when I download one and put the cd back in it still opens The Microsoft store. I'm pretty sure I have to make it default to opening a DVD player instead of opening windows store but I don't know how to please help

CD drive error

1) Close all open programs
2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

UpperFilters
LowerFilters
UpperFilters.bak
LowerFilters.bak
5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor
7) Reboot your computer
8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

And it likely has something to do with the emulated drive you have listed there.

 

CD-Rs won't open.

The CD-Rs are anything from 5 to 8 years old. I stopped using XP in 2011. But as I said, these discs would open on the Windows 7 computer without hassle. I also mentioned in my post that no, I haven't been able to try opening them on another system. Everyone
I know seems to have tablet PCs nowadays or Macs. I'll try the other suggestions anyway and report back. Thanks for the advice.

 

Cannot save the photos from a cd to my computer

How exactly are you trying to save the photos from CD to Computer?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Open the picture folder form CD by inserting it to the Computer.

• Select the pictures and right click and click on copy.
• Open the folder from Computer where you want to save it.
• Right click on this folder and click on paste.
