Windows 10: I put my windows c folder onto my external hard drive and now nothing is working can anyone...

I put my windows c folder onto my external hard drive to free up space to download things and it just duplicated all my files so I deleted everything on my windows c folder and now nothing is working. So how do I get my windows c files that are on my external hard drive back onto my windows c folder. if you can understand that

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.

Try to connect the external hard drive in the different USB port of the system and also connect external drive to different computer to see if it works.
