Windows 10: I receive no Notifications of a newly received Email while the Mail app Window is either...

I have had the Mail app set up to send a notification through the activity center whenever a new Email came in. However for the past couple of days this has not happened at all. A new email will come in and I will not receive a notification until I have opened the Mail and Calendar app.After some testing, poking around and asking questions I have gathered this much information:- I still receive the emails as normal, the times they come in are accurate I am just not notified.- I receive notifications as long as the window is open, it does not matter whether I currently am doing something else o

Long delay in receiving email notifications

While I doubt if this is something TPU could fix, I wonder if this is a common problem?

Email notifications for private messages and thread updates take between 30 and 60 minutes for me. Which kinda defeats their purpose..

For example, I received a private message at 4:45pm. Then at 5:37pm I receive an email notification of a private message, only to find out that it was the same message I had read nearly an hour earlier.

 

Mail app not receiving notifications

Hi Dave,

It seems that the Mail app is not running in the background. To show the app in the "Notifications & Actions" settings page, we suggest running it in the background. To do so, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + i to open Settings, then select
  Privacy.
  
• In the left pane, select Background apps.
• Under Let apps run in the background, toggle the switch to turn on or off the background apps.
  
• Once you're done, you may now turn on the Mail app in the "Notifications & Actions" settings page to get notifications.

I received 4 PM's today and I have yet to receive an email about any of them
