I recently put a new wifi card into my PC as it never had one before, after installing it I went to start up my PC and i keep getting an error message called SYSTEM _THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

Recommendation for WiFi usb / card

If you have a desktop computer I would STRONGLY suggest a PCIe adapter rather than a USB adapter if you go with WiFi 6. The only USB WiFi adapters that I have seen thus far use a Realtek chipset which is reported to have some serious flaws. In my own personal experience, I have tried 2 of these and returned both, getting performance worse than other WiFi 5 adapters and constant disconnects even 10 feet from my WiFi router. If you go with a USB adapter, I would suggest a quality WiFi 5 adapter. One more note: Should you decide to go with a WiFi 6 PCIe adapter, I would suggest a WiFi 6e model. They actually cost no more, and they are one step up just in case you ever go to a WiFi 6e router.

 

Wifi and browser problems with windows 10


I'll tell you how I fixed an identical problem on a ASUS laptop that had run perfectly on Windows 7 and ran well on W10 from January until the Anniversary update in early August. I tried everything I found on this forum and two others. Nothing worked. The last thing someone suggested was disabling the adapter and using a WiFi dongle. Problem continued. Nobody suggested changing the wireless network adapter. I bought and installed an Intel 7260 WiFi card and just used the driver which was downloaded on the reboot after the install. All problems solved!!

I must have wasted two months reading and trying everything. Even the manufacturer support inferred I needed a new machine though they sent me a Windows 8.1 driver to try, with the same result.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to determine if they white list any cards and see if they have suggestions for a compatible card. They may want you to buy another laptop but if the cards aren't white listed, a simple card swap to one compatible with Windows 10 seems to be the answer.

 

Wifi card keeps disconnecting on pc start up

I have had an Asus pce-ac88 wifi card built into my PC for a few weeks now. For the first four days it worked great but then problems started. Every morning when I start my pc the wifi card seems to have a lot of trouble connecting to my router. It automatically connects right away but after a minute this then drops off, after a while it comes back after which it drops off again a minute later. The Windows troubleshooter only solves the problem for a minute. This problem continues for about 10-15 minutes after which at some point the connection becomes stable and is excellent for the rest of the day. This recurs every day and causes me to not be able to perform anything for quite some time.

I have been looking for solutions myself but to no avail, the following solutions I have tried:

• Reinstalling the latest drivers
  
• Installing older drivers
  
• Install other drivers
  
• In the CMD tool enter a whole bunch of netsh and ipconfig commands which was recommended by someone who also had wifi problems
  
• Changed IP and DNS settings
  
• Restarted the router (after I did this I did not have the problem for about four days after which it came back)
  

I attended a short two day LAN party during these problems where I had no problems with the wifi, but the first 4 days at home on the network was also problem free.

One solution that is often mentioned is to adjust the power managament in your device manager. This setting is just not visible to me. I have already added "CsEnabled" in register-editor with value 0 but with no result for the return of the power management tab.

Is there anything else I can do or is this simply a case of broken wifi card?
