I paid to upgrade my Windows 10 home to Pro so I could use Sandbox. Later I found out my system could not run it. I bought a new computer with 11 Home to fix the issue, can I Move my pro upgrade? I just bought the upgrade and I feel like I was cheated now that I am in the same spot again and $100 poorer.

    :)

  2. Can't upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro

    Hi Bill,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will assist you in the best possible ways.

I suggest you to download and create an installation media for Windows 10 Pro form the link provided below:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10

After the installation media is created, suggest you to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from the installation media. When the upgrade asks for product key, enter the product key purchased for Windows 10 Pro. If it does not accept, suggest you to skip the activation
step. After the Operating System is installed, suggest you to activate by phone by following the steps below:

    • Press “Windows key + R” and type “slui 4” and press Enter.
    • Select the Region from the list and click Next.
    • Call the Toll-Free number provided on top and can activate via phone.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

  3. Upgrading to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 8.1 Pro (Originally from 8.1 home)

    Hi Karlrenaut,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

Along with the suggestions provided by mlg63, you can refer to my suggestions as well.

The basic requirement for upgrading to Windows 10 Pro for free is you should have a Windows 8.1 Pro installed and activated. The questions you are asking are bit confusing. So need more and exact information about what exactly you are trying to do.

    • What happens when you try to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro?
    • When you say normal methods what are you referring to?
    • Did you use the same product key to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro from Windows 10 Home (paid for Pro key)?

Windows 11 Pro Upgrade from Windows 10 Pro Edition

No but after it installed the malfunctioning Windows 11 upgrade it was listed as Windows 11 Pro. Microsoft Windows support advised I reinstall Windows 10 Pro and said that Windows 11 is really only meant for new PC's that come with it preinstalled. MSI website doesn't list my 2020 GT76 Titan dt-039 notebook on their Windows 11 upgrade eligibility list so I guess that's why the Windows 11 Pro upgrade failed. I suggest being careful with trying the Windows 11 upgrade despite it stating my notebook was capable of running Windows 11 it was wrong. Luckily I have the original Windows 10 Pro USB Flash drive because the Windows 11 Pro upgrade was so incomplete I had no way of reverting notebook back to Windows 10 without reinstalling from a USB Flash.
