Windows 10: I recently upgrade to Windows 10, and now I cannot connect to the office's Public network....

The following error pops up when trying to access the drive ; an error occurred while reconnecting to drive name, Microsoft Windows network: the local device name is already in use. The connection has not been restored.

home network changed to public network with Windows 10

I recently changed my OS to Windows 10 via the free upgrade. My network, while with Windows 8.1, was a home network. Now it is listed as a public network. My Kaspersky Total security software keeps sending messages that this is a public network. How does
one go about changing the network back to a home network in Windows 10.

 

Can not connect to our office networking (main sever also upgraded to Window 10)

recently just upgraded from Window 7 pro to Window 10. Unfortunately, after upgrading to Window 10, my PC can not connect to our office networking (main sever also upgraded to Window 10). Before that, all the PC can connect and sharing each other. Can
you provide me the step and how to solve the problem.

Public Network

If you recently visited a coffee shop or cyber cafe or connected to a wi-fi network in a park, Windows 10 might have assumed you are on a Public network.

You can easily change your network profile using the following steps:

Click Start

Type: powershell

Right click powershell

Click Run as administrator

Type the following at the command prompt then hit Enter:

Get-NetConnectionProfile

This command will list the profiles and from which you need to find the index number

Set-NetConnectionProfile -InterfaceIndex 1 -NetworkCategory Private

Where 1 is the index number of the profile to change so it might be a different number other than 1 on your system.
