It says my key is invalid, I am sure this is the Key I have used and I have never used it on another PC, I have the installation USB.I have a Microsoft account this PC was on the account.I went through all the troubleshooting step many times in the course of last week. I think I may have deleted it after several attempts of activating Win10 and now I cannot find where to reenter it, there is no selection for windows. Second issue, In hopes to clear the first one, I purchased Win11 from Newegg, and can not install that version due to not having secure boot.I would like to install Win11, is ther

    Upgrading Motherboard and CPU

I bought a default Lenovo K450 a few years back that came with Windows 8 preinstalled. Well over the past few months I've upgraded the PSU, GPU, and moved too an SSD without much of a hassle since I was using the same motherboard and CPU. Well, I'm moving
too a whole new upgrade and changing the case, motherboard, CPU, and adding a network card. My question is, once I've changed out all of the parts, will I need to reinstall Windows 8, or can I just install Windows 10 again like normal and follow the steps
with customer support to establish the legitimacy of my previous Windows OS? I have the OEM and Product Key.

    Hi,

Thank you for bringing up your query on Microsoft Community.

The only hardware changes that can negatively impact activation status once you upgrade to free version are the changes to the:

    • CPU
    • TPM
    • Motherboard replacement

    • HDD/SSD
    • Video card
    • Adding extra memory

Can I switch motherboard and cpu and use the old SSD?

I want to upgrade my motherboard, CPU and RAM. I recently upgraded my HDD to a new SSD and did a clean install of W7 then upgraded to W10. Will I be able to just install the new hardware and have Windows boot from the SSD as is? Or will I need to reinstall
W7 then upgrade to W10 again? Would Microsoft allow me to upgrade again for free?
