Windows 10: i removed my CD Drive but it is still showing on File explorer

Hi,my CD Drive broke quite a while ago so I have been using an external player. I decided to get an additional SSD for my PC and has used the power and Sata connection from the CD Drive to install the SSD.the SSD is working fine and has been installed However my File explorer is still showing the CD Drive E: and I have been unable to get rid of it.I've been into the Device Manager and the old CD Drive is no longer visible I have the View Hidden Tab selected so I know it is definitely not thereI've also tried using Diskpart but the E: Volume is not showing on there either Any Thoughts ?Ian

CD drive missing from File Explorer


I'm trying to burn an audio CD yet the application doesn't recognise any CD drive. Checking further, the CD drive is not listed in File Explorer until a CD media is inserted that holds valid data. The drive disappears when the media is ejected.
Under view options, the box is unticked for "hide empty drives".
Under device manager the drive shows as present and working normally.
I have tried switching autoplay on and off with no effect (suggested as a fix elsewhere).
Any ideas?

  Click file explorer from the list.
  
• 
  Select the CD/DVD drive and hit Enter.
  
• 
  Select the files you want to copy from the CD/DVD, then select the drive where you want to paste or save.
