I removed my work computer because Microsoft is invasive!!! from my son's profile and it's still showing up as a connected device. How can it be removed? It doesn't show up on his OneDrive account.

Removing device from Microsoft account profile

My son signed in on an elementary school computer, so now on his profile it lists two devices, one our home computer (Which I want) and the other the school computer. When I go into devices to delete the school device, there is no remove button like there
is on our home account. How do I delete it if there is no remove button?

 

My local PC profile is connected to my son's Family account, and I can't remove it

Hello. I am having a problem with my windows PC user profile. We use Microsoft Family Safety to control our kids' screen time. I logged into my son's xbox account using Chrome on my PC, then logged off. Now my main PC local profile shows his e-mail address, and my computer is showing up as a device in his Microsoft Family Safety settings. I have tried deleting the device from his Microsoft Family account, but it keeps coming back, and I can't get my primary PC profile to disassociate from his account. I reached a Microsoft technician who spent about an hour troubleshooting via screen share but said someone from the Microsoft Family team would need to look at it. I contacted them via email, and of course, they responded with basic steps to remove a user's account, which isn't the issue.

To summarize, here's what happened:

1. I logged into my main PC using my standard desktop profile, which is a local account, not a cloud account.

2. While logged into this account, I opened Chrome, went to xbox.com, and logged in using his account to test something.

3. I logged out of his xbox.com account on the browser and restarted the PC.

4. Now, when I open Chrome or Edge, I am told I don't have any screen time left, as if I am logged into my son's account.

5. When I open my main local account profile, I see my user name, but my son's email address (the one associated with his xbox account).

6. When I log into Microsoft Family Safety, I see my PC as a device under my son's profile, and there is no way to remove it.

So now I cannot use Chrome or Edge on my local profile.

I appreciate any suggestions, advice, or troubleshooting tips.
