Is ther any way to get the files back.I dont think they were deleted because harddrive storage space is similar to how it was beforeI tried a system reset and it brought back some things but not images docs or pdfs.I also tried windows file recovery it did not bring anything back that I'm looking for.Thank you for any help

Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10  


I came home today and had to log in to my desktop. When I did it said it was preparing Windows and I was taken to the temporary profile. I followed the tutorial to delete the profile folder path (step 9). At some point in the process, I confirmed that I could see my old files in C: \Users\BriggsDesktop. When I restarted, it went through the "We're glad you're here" screens. However it took me back to the desktop that looks just like the temporary profile one. I can no longer find all of my files. I tried doing a restore, but it did not complete successfully. Suggestions?

 

Try to login into my profile but am redirected to temporary profile.

In simple terms and step by step how to have my profile not be redirected to a temporary profile. Answers I have seen are too technical. Cannot figure out where to start on my computer to create a new user account as posts suggest. This started the
day I updated to Windows 10.

Computer logs you into your temporary profile if (the files and folders located under C:\Users\user_name) is corrupted. There is another chance which is a delay in reading your profile files due to Antivirus scan or something else during boot up. Usually
after typing your user name and password Windows tries to read and load your profile, if it gets corrupted or delay in reading, Windows will load with temp profile to give temporary access on computer.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to troubleshoot with the issue:

Rename the temp profile registry and revert back the old registry settings for the correct profile.

a) Log in with temp profile.

b) Start registry editor by typing regedit
in find box of Windows 10.

c) Navigate the following location.

d) You will see similar keys under profile list, but one with .bak, as shown below.

e) The key with .bak is for the correct old profile.Currently your Windows 7 computer logged in with fresh (temporary) profile with same key. So, rename the new profile key ( which is not having.bak) and remove .bak from correct
profile key.

Log off and log in (or restart) with your user name and password. You must get your correct profile with icons and profile settings back in Windows 10.
