Windows 10: I rented a movie but can't play it offline because I don't have wifi to download it.

Can't download the movie I purchased for rental.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to download rented movies offline and check if that helps.

Steps:

1. Select the movie you want to rent and click on
   rent option.
2. Login using Microsoft account.
3. Once you have signed in, you will have two option
   to stream or download movies to this device to watch offline.
4. Select download movies to this device to watch offline and click on next.
5. After Choosing the Next option and you will be asked for the payment option.
6. Once the payment it done, open Movies & TV application to download the movie.

You will be able to watch the movie offline from
Movies and TV application. When you rent, the viewing period is 14 days from the time of your order or 24-48 hours from the time you start to watch (depending on the content you select), whichever comes first.



If you still facing issues downloading the movies after following the above steps. I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below, to fix issues with Microsoft store.



Steps:

• 1. Open store application on your pc.
  2. Click on the ellipses on right top corner of the screen.
  3. Logout and login back.

Accessing and Playing a Rented Movie

I downloaded a rented movie last night called "The Thinning" and after it had finished downloading I shut down the computer and now I have great difficulty finding the movie in order to play it.

I have to type "The Thinning" in the search box and only when I click on it, I have the option to play it.

Why can't there be a link for "Rented" movies, so I can easily navigate to it ?

There are headings for "Explore" "Purchased" and "Personal" none of which takes me to my rented movie list.

Why do things always have to be so difficult ?

I can find them on the hard drive under videos where I have chosen to put them, but the computer has chosen Media Player Classic to play them, not your app _ MPC doesn't work.

 

Re-rented movie did not play, showed error 0xc00d36c4

I rented a movie and downloaded it but never watched it because I missed the expiration date. So I rented it again, then the downloader found the previously downloaded copy and did not download it again. The button next to the movie picture immediately
changed to Play. I hit the button and got error 0xc00d36c4. I got back, hit it again and got the same error. It seems I cannot play the movie that I rented. Please advise me how it can be fixed. Thanks.
