Windows 10: I run a full scan in ms security and my cpu usage was 100% and throughout the scan only...

this is not good, firstly ms security is taking 100% cpu and secondly throughout scan only antimalware service executable is taking about 90% cpu. I mean ms security only scans for malwares??

CPU at 100% Usage when using Full Scan in Windows Defender

I'm trying to scan for viruses but every time I choose Full Scan or Custom Scan my C: Drive my CPU shoots up to 100% usage and overheats prompting the scan to stop or my PC shuts down. I used Core Temp during a scan and all cores are getting up to 100
degrees Celsius. I've tried excluding Antimalware Service Executable folder from scan but same thing happens.

To address the issue, kindly help us with the following queries:

1. Which version of Windows is installed on your machine?
   
   (Type winver in the Start menu and hit
   Enter)
   
2. Were there any changes made prior to this issue?
   

This issue could occur due to high usage of resources by the programs that are running in the background, which could result in 100% disk usage in Task Manager. Kindly check with the steps listed below and see if it helps.

Method 1 -

In this scenario, I would ask you to change the power settings from Control Panel to reduce the CPU usage. To do the same,

• Open Control Panel from the
  Start menu and click on Power Options.
  
• Click on Change plan settings on the current power plan > click on
  advanced power settings.
  
• In the Power Options window, expand
  Processor power management and click on Minimum processor state to change its value to
  0(zero).
  
• Once after making the changes, you may check with the CPU usage. If it hasn’t changed, kindly follow the next method.

To find and remove malware from your PC, you can use the scan tool from the article
