Windows 10: I run Win 11 as a VM. How can I stop Windows from bugging me about backups.

I asked about this before, but the answer did not work, and the question is lockedI run Win 11 as a VM. The entire VM is backed up via TimeShift in my Debian host every week to an external drive. Plus, I run an export of the VM to an OVA file of the entire VM to a yes another separate **** twice a year. That's just in case the VM host software corrupts the VM and I don't catch it for a while. I do not need to run any backup from within Windows and the warnings, urgings, interfere with workflow. Is it a killer of an issue? No. Is it an irritant? Yes.

how to backup an Hyper-v VM with Win 11?

I have Hyper-V installed on Win 11 and I'd like to schedule a full backup (that could be restored!).

I could export VM, but it's manual, not automatic!

I'd read about Windows Server Backup, but I'm not sure I could get it on Win 11 ; I didn't succeeded to install it :-(

As my VM is Linux, I could make a system backup, that gives a .img, but after, I don' know what to do with it in Hyper-V

 

Problem activating Windows 11 after switching VMs

Hi there,

I purchased Windows 11 Home a couple of months ago and installed it on a VirtualBox VM. But VirtualBox was crashing quite a bit so I deactivated Windows 11 using the following commands:

• slmgr /upk
  
• slmgr /cpky
  

(as suggested on Redirecting ) and then installed it on a VMWare VM. Problem is, I can't activate Windows on the new VM even though it was deactivated on the old VM. I tried the recommended Troubleshooting Wizard solutions to no available and I couldn't find a Microsoft email address or support number, so I am posting here. Can anyone suggest how to contact Microsoft about this activation issue?

PS: I have already deleted the old VM so I can't log back onto it.

 

Window's Server Backup, crashing HyperV vms

Did you enable full integration services on your VM's? Did you upgrade to the newest version of integrated services? (I still need to do that on my core)

What are the VM's? Are they windows-based? What is the CORE OS version?

I have seen those disk signature errors in logs before, but it hasn't usually been a problem. I do know that if you see that and a bunch of surprise removed entries it is because backup is isolating the data so that it can be backed up.

I've been running Windows Server Backup on my home server with approx 12 VM's for a while now without issue. Though my point of doing it was to expect issues because I've dealt with so many WSB issues in the field. You might check out Veeam Free for a good backup solution. Though when I tested it, it was MUCH slower to backup than WSB was.

Do these VM's have multiple VHD's connected?

Any other errors reported?
