My folders a gone from the PC File Explorer folder list, they are now in OneDrive. And I want them back, I don't know where the folders are supposed to go or how to get them there. I would rather backup to my own SSDs. Win 11 PC

  2. Rename folder to OneDrive asks Confirm Replacement with another folder

    Hi Kent,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Based on your description, we suggest that you can do it all over again as follows:

    • Open OneDrive settings on your computer.
    • Go to the "Accounts" tab and click on "Unlink this computer".
    • Restart your computer.
    • Delete the D:/OldOneDrive folder.
You can try renaming the old OneDrive folder to something else, then create a new OneDrive folder and set it as a local folder in the OneDrive app.

If the above does not work, then you can try the following steps:

    • Open a "Command Prompt" on your computer (run as administrator).
    • Type rd /s /q "D:\OldOneDrive" and press Enter.
This will delete the "OldOneDrive" folder and all its contents.

    • Create a new folder in D:/ and name its OneDrive.
    • Open the OneDrive application and log in.
    • During the setup process, choose to change the OneDrive folder location to D:/OneDrive.
Please note that this will permanently delete the "OldOneDrive" folder and all its contents, so please ensure that you have backed up all your important data.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

  3. Sharing folder in OneDrive -- instructions given in Chinese!!!

I don´t understand your problem, I though you don´t know how to share with onedrive, so I put the instruction of how to do.

I don´t know how or why you get that message in chinese.

When I share a file or folder I make the email and paste the link that onedrive give me to share it.

    Ex.

Dear friend I put you the link where you can find the file/folder I want to share with you

Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

    and that´s all I do.

You can check the link direct toward a dummy file in my onedrive

I hope this can help you

    Saludos

  4. TarAn_D Win User

I see my folders in OneDrive, but I don't know how to get them back.

    Move the OneDrive Folder

Move the OneDrive Folder in Windows 10

When you set up OneDrive to sync with your computer, a folder C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive will be created to store the contents. XXXX denotes your username. To move this folder to another location follow these simple steps:

    1. Unlink OneDrive from your PC:

    • Go to the taskbar notification area
    • Right-click on the OneDrive icon
    • Select settings
    • Click: Unlink this PC
    2. Delete the C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive folder

    3. Create a new folder (target folder) for OneDrive contents, e.g. D:\OneDrive

    4. Create Directory Junction for the new folder

    • In the search area of the taskbar type CMD and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
    • In the command window type
    mklink /J C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive D:\OneDrive

adjusting it to your specific username and selection of the target folder

    5. Link again OneDrive to your PC using the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area
