Windows 10: I selected "take no action" the first time plugging in my device. Now it never shows up

Someone else already asked this question, and a link for a Windows update was provided, but when you click this link, it does not work. How else am I able to resolve this?

Computer Won't Auto Change the Playback Device When Headphones Plugged In/Out

Is the issue specific to only Headphones/ Does External Speaker play when plugged in?

I suggest you to try resetting the default device as shown in the steps given below and check if the issue persists.

  Plug in the Headphones in the machine.
  
• 
  Go to Start and Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select 'Hardware and Sound'.
  
• 
  Click 'Change system sounds'.
  
• 
  Click 'Playback' tab. (It should then show you your headphones in the list).
  
• 
  Select your proper Headphone device from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.
  
• 
  Now unplug your Headphones and select speakers from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.

• Open the Mail app.
• At the bottom of the left pane, click on the gear icon (Switch to settings).
• Select Options.
• Under Notifications, switch on the ticker for Show in action center.

Why does action center keep poping up when I click the touchpad?

  Right click on Touchpad, then select Disable.
  
• 
  Confirm selection - touchpad is disabled

  Repeat the steps, this time select Enable Touchpad.
