Windows 10: I sit necessary to run chkdsk on 10

Discus and support I sit necessary to run chkdsk on 10 in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance to solve the problem; My laptop has got a lot slower since some updates I installed this morning so would it be advisable to run a chkdsk off a command line like we used to...     I sit necessary to run chkdsk on 10


    My laptop has got a lot slower since some updates I installed this morning so would it be advisable to run a chkdsk off a command line like we used to in Windows 7? to see if anything has been disrupted or corrupted ?

    chkdsk c: /F

    It might be an error on the drive. We suggests that you follow the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Run Disk Cleanup utility to clear your junk files.
    • Open an elevated CMD type sfc /scannow and hit Enter to run the System File Checker.
    • Once the scan is completed, restart your computer. Remember to exit ChkDsk
      during boot.
    • Next, again open CMD as admin type
      Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth       and hit Enter to repair the Windows image.
    • Now see if ChkDsk able to complete the scan.

    Note: Before doing the steps, make sure you save a back up of your files.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

    Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
