Windows 10: I stillcannot connect to any external wifi as suddenly sats key instead of relevant...

this is for any external wifi ie library mum s care home. I am not very trchnical and dont want to wipe with reset or fix that may not work. I tried reboot etc no result. I cannot understand how was absolutely fine snd now isnt. Tried unticking firewall no change. Any wifi I tried still says kep and put in correct password instead but wont work. It s an HP laptop windows 10 with everything like subscription up to date.

OK, so the Windows 10 engineers bollixed up the wifi connectivity part of the operating system. Everybody knows that by now. It seems they are making some progress in resolving it. Now, instead of seeing "Secured, No Internet" on your list of wifi connections, you see "Connected, Secured" EXCEPT no webpages will load. So you really aren't connected. It does seem to be a step in the right direction. Does anybody know when they plan on a full and complete repair of this screw up of epic proportions?

Hi Wabbles and welcome to Tenforums.

I've got 4 systems connecting via wireless; all adapters are different makes; all have zero issues, and two of them are old (wireless-G only). Most every issue I have seen with wireless connections has been driver-related. (Or, impending router failure.) I would suggest identifying your adapter model/make, and searching for different drivers that you can try out. And, sometimes an older driver works better than a newer one (just had this issue on a system I was working on yesterday). Also, verify you have these same connection issues when connecting to different routers, just to rule that out.

 

Windows 10 no wifi + cant find registry key

Upgraded against my will and in spite of every effort to prevent it, to W10. Lost one of my wifi connections, not two others. Immediately multiple problems were encountered.

Re the wifi: all three repair methods failed.

I cannot locate the relevant key because I was using an OpenVPN in W8.1. The commands above do not work. Key not found.

I see some wifi connections and not others. Entering the relevant wifi info manually creates it in the wifi management list but it does not show on the list of networks detected.

Running InSSIDer located all the local networks immediately. The list displays a subset of them so the ones I need are there but filtered out.

It is a Dell M4800 1550 802.11ac.

Ideas?
