Windows 10: I suddenly have this message "Some of these settings are hidden or managed by your...

Just two things before I start: -

1. I have already tried googling for answers, but none of the steps work. More on this later
2. I have Windows 10 Home edition

I've been fiddling around with the OS to make it more snappy and less prone to privacy issues. Done some tweaks here and there used ShutUp 10 as well.

Two days ago I started noticing this message in background apps and a few other settings.

Google led me to restoring all settings in ShutUp 10, as well as tweaking something in the registry. I don't remember what I did to be honest now.

I can't use group policy editor as I have the home edition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The message "some settings are hidden or managed by your organization" means that some registry settings have been added/modified, either by editing the registry or through gpedit. Finding exactly where can be difficult. One way that can help is to open gpedit, in the left hand pane select 'Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates' then from the Action menu select 'Filter Options...'. Set 'Configured' to Yes and only those policies that are configured will be listed.





If you find a relevant policy, you need to set it to 'Not Configured' to remove the "some settings are managed...." message and the restrictions. If you don't find anything under Computer Configuration, look under User Configuration.
