Windows 10: I think my battery will explode

My Aspire E1-571 plugged in says 255%, When not plugged in it says unknown. Help me!

True one can newer be to cautious. But with the energy levels of cellphone battery i doubt they could explode, melt yes but explode...hmm. Not an expert on...well nothing, espesialy not on batterys, just quoting what i heard on the radio. Maby someone with more info on batterys could post. Well now i´m afraid of putting my cellphone to my front pocket.*Confused

Any battery can explode.....just the easy of how one does it....that's the thing. As error force said, with the sony laptop batteries the problem was that they short circuited. Now it didn't explode because it was short circuited but because it heated up due to the short circuit. That could also happen with any li-ion battery.

Anything that short cicuits a battery can potentially cause it to explode. If you remember with the fire-starting Sony batteries it was tiny shards of metal left over in the battery cells from the manufacturing process that caused the short circuit. Not to mention that if you heat a battery past a certain point it will eventually explode...... can never be too cautious....
