I did the following procedure to get ownershipClick TDL key permission and enter to change-enter the object name to select-administrators-check namesFollowing this procedure, I can get ownership of ProfileNotification, but not for TDL ones. The structure is CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification\TDLNah, I think I did owned them, but to try delete, it kept denied

  2. Take Ownership and Delete Registry Key

I have a brand new PC with a brand new clean install of Windows 10 with most current build.

Despite this, I am continually seeing a Warning Event ID 1534:

Profile notification of event Load for component {B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB} failed, error code is See Tracelogging for error details.

If the Events Viewer. Perhaps this is an inconsequential Warning and can be ignored, but the supposed process for resolving it has triggered the fundamental question. How to take ownership of a registry key?

If found on line with several people confirming the fix that the process is (or should be) simple:

Open the registry, navigate to, export, delete the following two keys then reboot:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification\TDL

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification\TDL

Unfortunately there is a caveat: "You'll need to take ownership of the TDL key to be able to delete it."

Well despite following to the letter no less than 3 articles for "Taking ownership of a registry" key, after following those steps and clicking "Apply" I keep getting a Windows Security popup:

Unable to save permission changes on TDL. Access is denied.

It is almost infuriating. I'm, I can take a sledge hammer to this PC and smash it to pieces, but Windows wants to tell me that as both the owner and administrator, that I can't have access to and delete a file.

It must be possible, as several people have apparently done it and resolved this warning.

Appreciate any guidance a more experienced person may provide.

  3. Windows 10 October 2018 Update rollout now paused

    I got a tsunami of errors id=1534
    look how I could solve it ;

    1. Open Regedit and navigate to the following two keys
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification
    2. Under ProfileNotification check if you have the TDL key
    3. Export the TDL key at each location
    4. Delete the TDL key at each location
    5. Reboot PC to verify
    Note:
    1. You'll need take ownership of the TDL Key to be able to delete it.

This worked perfectly , no more 1534 in the eventviewer !
Still searching for a way to change colour in the contextmenu , it was blue in 1803 , its now ugly grey............

User Profiles Services Error 1534 in Event Viewer

I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. I recently updated from version 1803 to 1809, which seemed to go smooth. I had some network issues that were ultimately resolved in a thread here. My user account is an admin account & I don't use a password.

I am now getting multiple errors in the event viewer when I reboot or when I run Macrium Reflect to create backups. This image comes from Macrium Reflect. When I click on logs, there is a button to view vss or other event errors.

I took ownership of TDL key and value to delete it to solve windows error 1534, but keep... [IMG]

This just started recently after fixing the sharing problem to my Windows XP machine, which is on the network. I don't know how serious it is & don't know how to fix it.
Thank you in advance for any advice!

P.S. I found that there were several complaints of this on the web after upgrading from 1803 to 1809. I found it here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com...tpronetworking

I found a "solution", but may have created other problems. The solution was:
    1. Open Regedit and navigate to the following two keys
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification
    2. Under ProfileNotification check if you have the TDL key
    3. Export the TDL key at each location
    4. Delete the TDL key at each location
    5. Reboot PC to verify

    Note:
You'll need take ownership of the TDL Key to be able to delete it. To do so:
    1. Right-click on the key, select Permissions.
    2. In the permissions for.. dialog, click the Advanced button, then click the "Change" link in the Advanced Security Settings dialog.
    3. Enter your domain\username in the edit box, click Check names and ensure it finds your name
    4. Click OK
You should be able to delete the key at that point.

I did this & rebooted. No longer a 1534 error. However, now I get an
EvntAgnt warning 3007 with the note that:
Error opening event log file State. Log will not be processed. Return code from OpenEventLog is 87.

I also get 3 Bonjour Service errors 100.
So I'm still not out of the woods.
