Windows 10: I tried to play a video but can't. It showing "Class not registered"

I tried to play video but I can't. Its showing "Class not registered". I tried in two or three players but cant play.

Video not playing - error message 'class not registered'

I am unable to run videos on Windows 10 that I have taken with my camera (previously they were fine). I get the error message 'Class not Registered'. It looks like a couple of possible solutions have been posted - but I am not a techie and they look
a bit daunting. I could do with something outlined in easy to follow steps / language - but hopefully there's a MS download that will fix. Can anyone help? Many thanks - Regards JL

 

Can't get Youtube to show videos in Chrome

Load this checklist video in Edge: (I'm assuming you did at least a few of these steps, since you stated you tried other suggestions earlier) Go through the list of suggestions here to try to repair YouTube for Chrome...

 

Class not registered error for Windows 10 when accessing mp4 files

I have recently experience issues playing video files. If I double-click on the file I get the following message:

"Class not registered"

I have tried the System file checker but it did not find any file issues.

Can anyone suggest a cause for this issue and a possible solution.
