I tried to reinstall my windows xp ws2.dll file but after restart my desktop is in a boot loop. The original boot CD isn't available. How do i fix it?

Reinstall windows xp

Ok, I think I made a big mistake. Before I posted here, I read a guide where you could go in safe mode and delete XP, and then just install it again. That didnt work, but i forgot to turn off safe mode. I put in the disk and it started to reinstall. It deleted all the old files and was about to install it, but it said it can't install it in safe mode. So it restarts the computer, and it is just a continous loop.

How do I get safe mode off? I tried the f8 button on boot up, but it doesnt work.

 

Windows XP no boot

I have a no boot issue in windows XP. It just keeps giving me the "no boot device" or something similar. It will boot from the Windows XP Home disk without any issues. I have tried replacing the boot.ini, fixmbr, and fixboot. None of these have worked. I even went so far as to doing the repair by installing Windows XP Home. When it rebooted it still gave me the same reading.

I can get it to boot from a Paragon Rescue disk though. I am at a loss on this one. My next step is to run a boot virus check I suppose, as this system had over 300 trojans, virus' and malware.

This is a friends computer that has a bunch of his work related documents so I don't want to reformat or anything unless it has to.
