Windows 10: I tried to unhide AppData wrong way, and all User Data now hidden

I wanted to see AppData files, but instead of just saying show all hidden folders files, from the View tab at top of File Explorer - I right clicked on the AppData folder >> Show more options >> Properties >> GeneralThen I unchecked "Hidden". And it said I need admin permission to do it so I clicked whatever button came up.But... instead of unhiding AppData Files, it hid all my User folders like Documents, Pictures, Videos. I'm not sure why it "Hid" everything for my whole User when I unchecked 'Hidden'. I also noticed there was a "-" minus sign in box for "Read-only", so I

Hello @Funjunkie6, I also like to see the AppData Folder and the Hidden Files & Folders etc. There is a Tutorial for this => How to Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives in Windows 10 Also. if you look at Post #14 in the above Tutorial, you will see that I setup a REG file for them. I use one of the following setups . . .

If all you did was hide a folder [in File explorer] then all you have to do is unhide that folder. Judging by your description, you have not changed your user account itself i.e. it is a folder that is hidden not the user account.

• Open File explorer,
• in the upper-right, click on the dropdown arrow if necessary so that the ribbon is visible,
• click on the View menu,
• set the checkbox for Hidden items,
• navigate to the folder concerned & clear its hidden property,
• [optionally] clear the checkbox for Hidden items.

• Have you tried going to it's location in C Drive?

You may also want to unhide the folder options and check.

Open Windows Explorer, click View and then click Hidden items check box.

The folder AppData is a system folder which is hidden by default. This folder includes many sub-folders like Local, Roaming, LocalLow which contains your user data, settings, IE browsing history, temporary files etc.

You may also want to go to it's location and check if you are able to access it.

C:\Users\ <user name>\AppData\Roaming
