I am running Windows 10 Pro for Education. I did search the internet for a fix, but none of the solutions suggested worked, though I found a few threads on Microsoft answers of some people having the same issue with the Anniversary update. Apparently it was a bug in Windows that was later fixed. The only fix that I found on the Internet was to do in-place upgrade, but thats not ideal so I am hoping for an easier solution.

Cumulative updates install without any issues. My laptop is also pretty generic (only integrated graphics, no special sound setup, etc.) and I made sure the updates were not deferred in the settings.

Having problem update to Windows 10, version 2004

Advice For People wishing to update to Windows 10 Redstone

Yep. Tried to update my Realtek sound driver to the lastest version. After that I can't even use the Realtek sound control panel any more. It is now blocked. Seems M$ is determined to force users to swallow their automated driver update system.
