Still have the same problem with my battery saying 70% available, (plugged in, not charging) though.

Tried so many options around the net. You have any suggestions?

 

The only thing I can think of is to poke around in settings - anything related to power
Try changing the power plan
Take a look at battery saver - turn it off
Uninstall any 3rd party power utilities - this includes any OEM pgms that help save power

It's possible that the problem caused by the keyboard also affected the battery. If there is or was a short on the board, then any electronic piece could be subject to failure. Only a technician could tell you that. It's up to you to weigh the cost - if you have to replace the Mobo after paying for diagnostics, it's not much more expensive to get a new machine.

Is it possible that the laptop wont charge the battery until it reaches a lower percentage of charge?

 

Each of my Acer laptop's ac adapters charge the battery, if battery is anything less than 99% charged, until the battery reaches 100%, then stops charging.

 

What happens if you run off just the battery so it can discharge the battery then plugging it back in? Another possibility I thought of is that the meter just isn't showing the correct charge state.

 

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the battery? I use to have to take out my cell phone battery and clean the contacts with the eraser on a pencil. When the contacts were dirty the battery wouldn't hold a charge long even though the battery showed as being fully charged.

If the battery is old, it may not charge up more than that, of course you can let it discharge some more and retry.

As to the laptop not powering up at all, and it being a coincidence - Yes, as you found out, because the issue was not the removal of the driver, but the loose KB ribbon cable ....
