Windows 10: I updated Windows 11 and now my taskbar is transparent. Going into Settings and turning off...

My taskbar is now transparent. I don't want to have to roll the cursor over my clock to see what time it is or over a window to see which one it is.I installed yesterday's update and it's messed up my display. Going into settings/preferences/colors and untoggling the transparency effect toggle did nothing.

How do I get a transparent taskbar in Windows 11?

I remember reading rumors about Windows 11 having a transparent taskbar. If there is any truth to those rumors, a fully transparent taskbar hasn't shown up - yet. It may be something that will arrive in a future update. The transparency effect you're thinking of applies to the Start menu, the Settings app and the taskbar. It's not really transparent - more like translucent.

But my real purpose for posting is to say this:

You will read on the internet of hacks that will make the Windows 11 taskbar fully transparent. Don't do it. It's never a good idea to try to hack an operating system, and it's a particularly bad idea with a new operating system that is, let's face it, still under development. Not worth the trouble you might be bringing on your computer.

If a fully transparent taskbar is in the works, you'll get it in time.

 

After an update, my taskbar is suddenly 100% transparent

Because of this, I can't see items on the task bar, and I can't see items on the desktop underneath.

System | Transparency Effects is turned off.

I can't find any other settings that deal with transparency.

How do I reset it so the taskbar is solid, not transparent.

Most recent update was 2024-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5035853)
