  1. I upgraded my gaming rig to Windows 11, Now NO SATA drives work

A few months ago I was running Windows 10, I installed a MV.2 drive and upgraded to Windows 11 while I was at it. At the time prior to the upgrade everything worked just fine. I did a complete restore and installed windows onto the M2 and everything went smoothly. However, when I attempted to boot up it wouldn't boot up it kept trying to repair startup, I troubleshooted it through everything I could think of. I then removed the 2 SATA drives and BAM.. PC booted up with no other issues. I have tried alot of the fixes on here but I just don't have the magic I guess. The SATAs boot up and are ope

  2. mechanize windows 11 upgrades

    • Microsoft recommends against installing Windows 11 on a device that does not meet the Windows 11 minimum system requirements. If you choose to install Windows 11 on a device that does not meet these requirements, and you acknowledge and understand the risks, you can create the following registry key values and bypass the check for TPM 2.0 (at least TPM 1.2 is required) and the CPU family and model.
    • Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup
    • Name: AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU
    • Type: REG_DWORD
    • Value: 1

Converting this to a reg file would make it trivial for antique machines to upgrade.

Open notepad and add the following:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup]

    "AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU"=REG_DWORD:1

Save this as upgrade.reg, which will allow a dinosaur rig to upgrade to windows 11, click on the reg file which windows will ask if you want to merge and then you can install windows 11

widows 11 works way better with 4 cores than 2 cores., it is also advisable to max out the RAM so that wear and tear on the SATA SSD is reduced, DDR3 2x4GB is cheap but some rigs might support 2x8GB but it depends on BIOS support

  3. SATA DVD-RW Drives

    Hey Guys,

So, I finally just bought my new rig: EVGA A1 Mobo (w/ 6 SATA Slots), 2 WD Raptors (SATA - Gonna RAID 0 Boot), 4 Seagate 320GB Barracuda's (SATA - Gonna RAID 5 Storage).
However, I realized I also bought 2 DVD-RW drives, in SATA *Eek! I upgraded my gaming rig to Windows 11, Now NO SATA drives work  not enough SATA ports on the mobo...

So a couple of questions follow:
    1) Is SATA really faster for DVD-RW drives than IDE?
    2) Is there anyway to Inline/Series the (2) SATA DVD-RW drives, kinda like you do with IDE (Master/Slave)?
    3) Are there any SATA-->IDE reverse adaptors (not the opposite, I know those exist)?
    4) Based on the above answers, should I:
    • a) Get a PCI-E SATA RAID Card to Handle One of the RAID Arrays, and keep the DVD-RW drives as SATA? (although those are dang expensive, AND I don't know where that PCI Card is gonna fit - got an 8800gtx, PCI Slot-Cooler, Wifi card... an extra slot but no room down there)
    • b) Return the DVD-RW SATA drives and get (2) IDE DVD-RW drives?
    • Another option that won't require me spending a lot of money?
Eesh, I'm kinda stuck on my build if I don't have a CD Drive to read from for Windows Install(I don't have any extra ones sittin around - and I want to install my RAID 5 Storage array right away)

Suggestions?*Confused I upgraded my gaming rig to Windows 11, Now NO SATA drives work
