  1. I upgraded my old Windows 7 laptop with a new SSD and this showed up

Hi, I bought online a 1TB WD Blue SATA SSD for my windows 7 laptop and after I installed the SSD, it showed me this:I opened BIOS and tried to fix the boot priority order according to a youtube video. As you can see, the SSD is detected by the laptopBut when I used my old HDD again, it works just fine and I can use the laptop normally although it's slow. I'm planning to install Windows 10 in this laptop after this issue is resolved. Best regards,Howalter

  2. Install new M2 SSD in laptop

Hello, decided to upgrade my laptops SSD. I physically installed a new M.2 SSD on my laptop on the only slot there is or where the old one was. I have a windows installation media in a USB and when I boot up the laptop, the windows install screen comes up but when I get to the screen where you select the drive, the new SSD is not listed. Anyone have any ideas what to do to get the new SSD to appear?

    Laptop: HP Envy 360

  3. can I put my old SSD in my new laptop and then upgrade to the windows version the new laptop came with?

My old laptop stopped working. It had Windows 11 Home on it but it also has a 2TB SSD that will go into my new laptop which comes with a smaller SSD and Windows 11 64 Pro. I would like to keep all my programs and files without doing a drive clone or reloading my programs. Can I put my old SSD in my new laptop and then upgrade to the windows version the new laptop came with using it's product key? Thanks Dan

Using an old Windows 7 on a new laptop (and upgrading to Win 10)

I am currently looking to buy a new laptop on a somewhat tight budget. In order to get a bit better parts I have the option of buying it without a Windows license. I need Windows however and after some thinking I remembered that I have an old PC collecting dust which should have a retail version of Windows 7. Now I've long forgotten where the key is or even if I had a key (it might have been a volume license thing from work) so I have a few questions...

    1. How can I check what type of license I have and whether it can be transferred to a new PC?
    2. If I can use the old license, how can I see the activation key?
    3. I've read that even now (about 2 years later) one can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free? How is the best way to do this? I mean is it better to upgrade on the old PC and then reinstall on the new one, or should I install Win 7 on the new laptop and then upgrade?

I hope I've managed to ask my questions clearly enough as I don't think I understand Microsoft's licensing policy well.

    Thank you!
