Discus and support I used to be able to control the volume by using the f3 key now I have to go into settings... in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; I used to be able to adjust volume using the f3 key , now I have to go into settings and adjust the volume from there .     I used to be able to control the volume by using the f3 key now I have to go into settings...


    I used to be able to adjust volume using the f3 key , now I have to go into settings and adjust the volume from there . Is this fixable ?Dell Inspiron 5 5000 Series* Moved from Community Center

    Volume keys

    Since upgrading to Windows 10 my Lenovo keyboard volume keys now require the Fn key; i.e. Fn+F2 or Fn+F3. How do I go back to just using the F2/F3 keys as volume controls?

    Hi Akash,

    The issue with volume control could have happened due to the corrupted or outdated driver. To resolve your issue, we suggest that you follow the 2 methods below:

    Method 1: Run the Audio Troubleshooter on the system.



    Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. We would suggest you run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio



    Refer these steps:



    • Press Windows key+X, select Control panel.
    • Change the view as an option on the top right to Large icons.
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
    • Run the playing Audio troubleshooter

    Method 2. Uninstall and reinstall the latest drivers from the manufacturer website.

    Follow the steps to update the audio drivers:

    • Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
    • Expand the Sound, Video and game controllers.
    • Right-click on the Sound card and click on Uninstall.
    • Install the latest audio driver from the manufacturer website.

    How to make the F1, F2 and F3 keys no longer control volume.

    I usually use the F1, F2 and F3 keys a lot in certain programs but recently after a Windows update that occurred while I was using my computer a few days ago, these keys are now set to Mute, Volume Up and Volume Down. I was wondering how I can disable
    these so that they have regular functions again. I can find answers for Mac online but nothing for Windows, I've tried searching in the community here too. Thanks so much for your help! ;D
