Windows 10: I usually login to my surface laptop with facial recognition. My daughter had many failed...

I use facial recognition to unlock Windows Hello but for anyone else, it asks for a pin which I never set up I have tried to change pin and it tells me no pin was set up. My daughter tried to get onto my computer and now I am locked out and it is requiring a pin in addition to my face. I have also tried logging in with my Microsoft password and that does not work either. My device is linked to my Microsoft account but I cannot find a way to unlock it.

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we will know why the facial recognition quit working:

• Have you recently made any changes/updates prior to this issue?
• Is there an error message when you try to sign using facial recognition?
• What is the make and model of your computer?

In the meantime, I would suggest that you perform the troubleshooting steps in this

Facial Recognition problem on Surface Pro 4

I suggest you to install any pending updates available and check for the status.

Also, suggest you to reset the Facial recognition by following the steps provided below:

• Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and locate Windows Hello.
• Select the infrared IR camera option.
• A “Welcome to Windows Hello” box will pop up. Press the “Get Started” button.
• Set up a PIN code if prompted to do so. If you already have one, this step will be skipped.
• Scan your face by following the on-screen instructions. For best results, hold your face six-to-eight inches away from the front of your Surface.
• Select “Finish” to complete scanning or choose “Improve Recognition” to continue scanning.

trying to turn off the Facial Recognition feature for Windows Hello or for the
Windows 10 Camera app?

• Under Picture password, click Remove.
