Windows 10: I want my Num Lock key to be ON when I power up my laptop and not disabled

I want my Num Lock key to be ON when I power up my laptop. A previous answer https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/turn-num-lock-permanently-on/202dc164-ec19-4ab1-bd65-d995590c94db gave the registry setting to turn it ON and disable it at the same time. I want to have it on when power is turned on, but let the num lock key be enabled.The BIOS of my HP470 G9 laptop no longer has an entry for the Num Lock Key's initial state. It was an HP support guy told me that it wasn't in the BIOS because it was a Windows problem.

Leaving Fast Startup disabled is fine. Here is the tutorial here on Tenforums for the Num Lock key at sign-on.

Read thru them both, and make sure all the proper steps were taken. It should not lock you out of your laptop.

 

NUM Lock issue

The status of the NUM LOCK key is specific for each user, and NUM LOCK is disabled by default. If you want the NUM LOCK key enabled for use before a user presses CTRL+ALT+DEL to log on, you must use Registry Editor to change the default behavior.

enable num lock key not working. Is there another work around?

This is the fix I was given for my first Win 10 laptop. It made the num lock key stay on unless I turned it off.
It worked great.
