Windows 10: I want to add a new exernal monitor to my Envy HP laptop that is running W10. I'm told...

I've loaded the software CD-ROM disk that came with the LG monitor. The "On screen control" will not run unless I turn off the mirror mode. How do I turn it off?

Your suggestion didn't help. Since HP had an NVIDIA driver update on their website as opposed to the NVIDIA website which were not compatible. I tried both W8 and W10 packages. So trying to re-install the driver update that was provided by HP again, which
I already had on my laptop and second monitor still didn't work.

 

How to connect external monitor to HP Envy laptop

I just brought new cables because the originals were lost when we moved.

As to this type of setup, well I never had to configure a monitor because it would auto detect any new device (had a dell laptop). I have not done this type of setup on this Windows 10 HP Envy.

Any advice would be helpful.

I suggest to go to the Manufacturer’s website (HP Envy), download and install the latest chipset drivers and check if it helps.
