Windows 10: I want to change my pin and add my fingerprint, but it won't let me change nor remove. What...

I tried to restart my laptop and a cold reboot. None of these options worked and it won't let me change or do anything with the security. Just keeps showing option is currently unavailable.

Windows Hello Change/Remove/Forgot PIN greyed out

Trying to setup Fingerprint reader authentication via Windows Hello on domain-joined systems. I am able to set up Fingerprint reader after making some registry changes, I can create a PIN when setting up Fingerprint but cannot Change or Remove it as that
option is greyed out under settings.

I started with everything greyed out under Windows Hello, but after the following reg changes, I was able to set up a fingerprint reader:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System , changed AllowDomainPINLogon DWORD value to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System , changed AllowDomainPINLogon DWORD value to 1

After doing that I could set a PIN, set up Fingerprint reader, but I cannot Change, or Remove the PIN. I can't push that out to users as they'd be out of luck if they forgot their PIN and needed to Change or Add a Fingerprint.

I've done a lot of research and made GPO changes making sure Hello isn't configured while PIN is, that made no difference. Everyone forum or site I search for enabling the ability to change/remove PIN tells me things I've already tried and nothing
helps. All I need is the ability to Change or Remove the PIN I created with the Fingerprint, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. For clarity if others have this issue steps to resolve were as follows:

1. Remove old PIN and finger print from sign in settings

2. From BIOS change security chip from TPM to Intel PTY

3. From bios erase fingerprint data

4. Setup new pin and fingerprint from wondows hello, it is now working!

Hi I have the same laptop model and problem as the original poster.

Initially I had fingerprint sign in working great. One day while in tablet mode I changed sign in method to PIN. Next time I tried to do fingerprint sign in I kept getting a "sorry, PIN is required" message.

I tried removing my fingerprint from windows hello settings and tried to set it back up again, but at this point I have the same issue as OP. That is if my PIN is set and I try to add a fingerprint then after entering my PIN the setup doesn't proceed.

If I remove my PIN and try fingerprint setup it appears to work, goes through all the steps but after recording a fingerprint and setting the PIN, it appears none of the changes are saved in settings.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers for the fingerprint scanner.

I have tried resetting scanner data from the BIOS.

I have tried manually setting group policy permissions on biometric login to enable.

I have tried creating a new profile.

I have tried running System File Checker to repair corrupted files.

The issues persists... any help greatly appreciated!
