Windows 10: I want to change the PIN I use to sign-in to Windows, but get the message "this option is...

Currently, I mostly sign-in to Windows 11 on my Surface Laptop 3 by using facial recognition Windows Hello. Alternatively, when this doesn't work, I can use a PIN that I chose when I first bought my laptop to sign-in instead as well as the usual alternative of recovering my Windows account by signing-on via my online Microsoft account. I'd like to change this PIN, but when I go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > PIN Windows Hello, there is a message underneath this saying "this option is currently unavailable". How can I change my PIN? Is it possible to make this an pass

Remove sign in pin

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the sign in pin/password options.

• In the search box type sign-in-option.
• Click on the sign-in-option.
• Then you can find password/pin/picture password.
• There you can remove the option and check.

no longer an option to change pin in "sign-in option"

Everything is telling me to go to "sign-in options" to change my pin or delete my pin, but changing or deleting my pin is no longer listed as an option... on this weird "Windows Hello" pin, which is not an option either.

 

Add PIN or Change PIN in Sign in Options

I have already set a PIN for my Local Account and my "Sign in Options" in Settings looks like this showing "Add" under PIN:





Various sites I have visited indicate that as I have already set a PIN I should have the option to "Change" or "I forgot my PIN". like this:





Can someone explain why there is a difference please?
