Windows 10: I want to compress my entire partition C: with xpress16k

I want to compress my entire partition C: with xpress16k ... user files, system files, ... all.



I just have a partition (c and i want to compress my entire partition with "xpress16k"

Anyone know if this is possible?


cd "c:"
compact /c /s /a /i /f /exe:xpress16k




PD: I was testing this in usb bootable with windows 10 and give me 100% errors. ... so What Its wrong?....



compact /c /s /a /i /f /exe:xpress16k "e:\*.*"

The current active partition is compressed

My "Compress" button was not checked when I went to C: drive. Any other suggestions for this?

 

Files in C: drive automatically compressing?

As you may already know, if this feature is on, every new folder/file you add starts off automatically compressed. If you would like to turn it off for the whole drive, kindly follow these steps:

• Start File Explorer . In the left pane, right-click on the drive that you would not want to be compressed.
• Click Properties.
• Make sure that the Compress this drive to save disk space box is unchecked.
• Click OK then Apply.

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
