  1. I want to exclusively lock the microphone to one application.

when i say exclusive i mean i don't want any other app using the hardware microphone even when my mixer app is not running. i want all other apps to access the mixer virtual output only. never the physical microphone.

    Volume on Microphone randomly spikes

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft community forum.

This issue can occur if the device drivers are not up-to date or an application is taking control over Microphone. Please help us with the following information, so that we have a better understanding of the issue:

    1. Are you using built-in Microphone or an external microphone?

    2. If you are using an external microphone, what is the make and model of the microphone?

Meanwhile, here are few things that you can try:

Method 1: I would request you to

    update the driver
and uncheck the option “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”. Here are the steps to uncheck the option:

    1. Right click on the Sound Icon at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Then click on Sounds and double click on
      Microphone.
    3. Go to Advanced tab and uncheck the option:
Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device
      .
    4. Click on Apply and then on
      OK
      .

Method 2: If the above does not help, then you can follow the steps mentioned in the article:

Troubleshoot Surface sound and audio accessories
    (you can skip step 6).

    Regards,

  3. Issues with the microphone in Windows 10

    Hi Donchushka,

Microphone problems can occur when running more than one application at a time.

Provide us with the below details for better clarity on the issue.

    • Are you using an external microphone?
    • If yes, what is the make and model of your microphone?
To improve microphone function when using more than one application at a time, follow these steps:

    1. From Windows, search for and open Sound.

    The Sound window opens.

    2. Click the Recording tab.

    3. Select the microphone, then click Properties.

    4. Click the Advanced tab.

    5. Remove the check from the box next to Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

    6. Click Apply.

    7. Disconnect and reconnect the microphone. Then check the microphone recording level. If it’s an inbuilt microphone ignore the above steps.

Hope this information is helpful regarding the microphone. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Low Volume When Using Condenser Microphone.

    Hello,

See my responses below. Basically I have already tried everything you suggested prior to me making this post. Also I don't understand why a cheap clip-on mic is working while my condenser mic isn't.
