How do I leave a family group after the "Something Went Wrong" response?

I have been invited to use a Microsoft 365 Family subscription, and I would like to do that. When I click Join Now, Microsoft tells me I need to leave my current family group before I can join a new one.

When I follow the instructions on how to leave my current family group, I am given this message:

Something went wrong

We’re having trouble and can’t remove Joe from your family group right now. Refresh or wait and try again.

I have refreshed. I have waited. I have tried again. And it is still not letting me leave my current family group.

I want to leave my current family group and join the new one I have been invited to.

To resolve this issue and move your son's account to the new family group, follow these steps:

1. Remove Your Son from the Old Family Group: Since your wife cannot manage the old family group after leaving it, you need to ensure she has left the old family group properly and is no longer associated with it. It might be necessary to rejoin the old family group temporarily to remove your son's account. Here’s how you can do that:
   
   • Have your wife rejoin the old family group (if she can).
     
   • Once she’s back in the old family group, she can remove your son from that group.
     
   • After removing your son, she can leave the old family group again.
     
2. Invite Your Son to the New Family Group: After successfully removing your son from the old family group, you can now invite him to join your new family group. Here’s how:
   
   • Go to the Microsoft Family Safety website: Microsoft Family Safety.
     
   • Sign in with your Microsoft account.
     
   • Select “Add a family member” and enter your son's email address.
     
   • Your son will receive an invitation email. He needs to accept this invitation to join your family group.
     
3. Check and Confirm:
   
   • Ensure that your son accepts the invitation.
     
   • Once he accepts, check the family group settings to confirm that he is now a member of your new family group.
     

If your wife cannot rejoin the old family group or if there are any issues with the above steps, you might need to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can help manage family group memberships and resolve any lingering issues with account associations.

Last member (Adult) unable to leave Family group

I'd like to leave this family(-group) to join another, but I've been seeing this same error for several days now, across at least a couple reboots.

Additional information: I've sent this account an invite from the other family, and get the invite here. If I try to accept the invite, it says I must leave my current family first. I get the link to leave, but the same error.

Any ideas?
